Gordon Research: Conference on Genetic Biocontrol

Gordon Research Conference

The 2024 edition was held in Spain, from May 18th to 24th, in Barcelona.

For Polo GGB, Dr. Chrysanti Taxiarchi participated as the keynote speaker at the Gordon Research Seminar, presenting the results of collaborative work on genetic technology capable of limiting the activity of CRISPR/Cas9 systems in the Anopheles mosquito (anti-drive), and the ongoing activities on this project at our Ecology Center in Terni.

The Genetic Biocontrol GRS represented a unique opportunity for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to share their work, exchange innovative ideas, and build scientific partnerships. The 2024 seminar focused on genetic biocontrol with the aim of creating a cohesive and collaborative community. Cooperation, communication, and innovation were the keywords to address this constantly evolving world. No one was left out: every mind was called to actively participate, creating a vibrant environment of sharing and learning.

During the “Genetic Biocontrol” Gordon Research Conference (GRC), both technological advancements and practical experiences in genetic biocontrol were discussed, covering a wide range of biological systems, including insects, plants, fish, mammals, and more. Participants included both young and senior researchers, communication and regulatory experts, and industry leaders.

A passion for science spanning nearly a century

It all began within the summer schools of Johns Hopkins University in the late 1920s.

Over time, Gordon Research Conferences have experienced extraordinary growth, attracting nearly 40,000 participants each year in over 395 meetings organized worldwide.

This remarkable success of the GRC, since its first official conference in 1931, has been guided by fidelity to the principles of open and free exchanges on scientific research and knowledge sharing.
