Scientific Committee

Polo GGB has set up a scientific committee that, operating in line with the company's research and business objectives and strategies, provides opinions on strategic direction and general matters.

The committee is composed of:

ANDREA CRISANTI

Andrea Crisanti is a professor of molecular parasitology at Imperial College. Engaged in the field of molecular biology, he has conducted numerous significant scientific studies contributing to the genetic and molecular understanding of the malaria parasite and its vector, the mosquito. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and completed his Ph.D. at the Institute of Immunology in Basel. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Molecular Biology at the University of Heidelberg. More recently, on leave from Imperial College, he was appointed Director of the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Padua and Director of the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit at the University Hospital.

MARIO PLEBANI

Mario Plebani is a professor of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Padua. He served as the Director of the Laboratory Medicine Service at the Padua Hospital since 1991 and the Department of Laboratory Medicine since 2000. Additionally, he was the Director of the Biomedical Research Center of the Veneto Region. Since 2009, he has been the President of the Italian Federation of Laboratory Medicine Societies – FISMELAB. Mario Plebani is also the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM) and an Associate Editor of CRC Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and Journal of Biological Markers.

VALERIO NAPOLIONI

Valerio Napolioni is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the School of Biological Sciences and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Camerino. He directs the laboratory of “Genomic and Molecular Epidemiology,” focusing on the analysis of genomic BIG DATA and personalized medicine. His extensive and solid experience in Genomic and Molecular Epidemiology leads him to conduct a high number of scientific research projects, ranging from the analysis of the human X chromosome to the complete genome analysis of neuropsychiatric traits, global evolutionary issues related to human adaptation, and pan-genomic analysis of clinically relevant bacterial species.
